Success Stories

When the Humane Society of Tampa Bay had experience a swarm of drywood termites, they were perplexed.  They knew that the termites had to be controlled. Unfortunately, the infested building also housed dogs and cats awaiting adoption. As a result, fumigation was out of the question.  Consequently, HSTB sought an alternative to fumigating the building.

We were invited to evaluate the situation and discuss alternative means of control.  The methodology we had employed to control the termites was a boric acid solution.  This treatment took place on 6/15/00.   No new termite evidence has been seen since this treatment had been provided

An existing customer, Andrea, had called regarding a moth problem that had begun several days before her call.  As usual, we had asked the customer to save a sample of the pest which had infested her home.  Upon seeing the pest sample, her technician had identified the pest as a moth fly. Our technician’s knowledge of the biology and behavior of insects allowed him to narrow his search for the nesting area.  Since these moths are associated with moisture problems, he began his inspection in the kitchen.  Once inside of the kitchen, he had noticed a strong smell of mildew emanating from behind the dishwasher. Further investigating proved that a leak behind the dishwasher was in fact the breeding area. Andrea then called her plumber to rectify the leak.  Upon the removal of the dishwasher, the plumber had also noticed a small gas leak.  Both leaks were repaired and the moth problem vanished.
